Intradyn Introduces Enterprise-Class,All-in-One Email Archiving Appliances

Building on Two Years of Success in Email Archiving, New Multi-Terabyte Models Meet Demand from Larger Organizations for Simple Email Compliance and E-Discovery

LOS ANGELES and ST. PAUL, MINN. - NOVEMBER 9, 2006 - Intradyn, the leader in simple, affordable appliance solutions for automated email archiving and retrieval, announced today at Sony's AIT-5 Launch Event in Los Angeles that it has expanded its line of proven appliances to now meet the email management needs of larger enterprises. Its new models have disk capacity of 1.5 and 3.7 terabytes (TBs).

The ComplianceVault™ "eSeries" email archiving appliances also feature enhanced usability functions, even more powerful software, and the ability to now support a virtually unlimited number of mailboxes. Each is a complete, application-specific, plug-and-play network server optimized for high performance and high availability, with an easy-to-use web interface. The new models are the e1500 (1.5TB disk capacity, 1U height) and e3700 (3.7TB disk capacity, 2U height). Each model is based on the Intel S5000PAL platform and features dual Intel Xeon DP processors. The e1500 includes two 750GB SATA drives, while the e3700 includes six 750GB hot-swappable SATA, RAID 5 drives and features dual power supplies.

"Customer acceptance of our email archiving appliances has been phenomenal, and our lineup of marketing and OEM partners, with their broad marketing channels, is a testament to that," said Brent Bowlby, Intradyn CEO. "The cost efficiency of our solution stands alone in the industry. But the one consistent thing we hear from our sales channels is that larger companies and governmental agencies want the appliance, too - they just need more disk capacity and even faster searching due to their rapidly expanding email volumes. The eSeries is a direct response to that demand."

Each eSeries ComplianceVault™ Email Archiving & Retrieval Appliance is an integrated hardware/software solution that captures all of a company's email on a continuous, real-time basis. The device stores all email on both hard disk and tape - the latter to unalterable "WORM" (write once, read many) tape media if required - via a SonyŽ AITTM tape library with which it is bundled. It works with Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes, Novell Groupwise, Mirapoint Message Server, or virtually any other IMAP or POP3 email system, including multiple email servers. It is non-disruptive to a company's IT infrastructure and requires no software to be loaded onto the email server or to client computers. It allows companies to meet a variety of email retention needs, whether related to regu-latory compliance (SEC, NASD, Sarbanes-Oxley, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, HIPAA), or simply for good business practice to enforce a company's internal email policy or electronic records management policy. The appliance also allows for rapid email searching to vastly improve responsiveness to legal discovery requests (e-discovery).

Partner Comment
"The combination of Sony AIT technology and Intradyn ComplianceVault™ appliances offers the corporate market a unique, easy, and cost effective way to offload email files from strained servers, and to archive this data as part of an overall strategy to comply with numerous government regulations," said Alan Sund, Sony Electronics' general manager for tape storage solutions. "Sony has worked closely with Intradyn to ensure that our newly released AIT-5 tape libraries, which are multi-functional to include Write Once Read Many (WORM) capability, are fully automated and have been tested to work with Intradyn's integrated ComplianceVault™ hardware and software appliances for easy installation, usage, and maintenance."

Product Background
Intradyn originally introduced the ComplianceVault™ appliance in June 2004 as a simple, all-in-one desktop appliance for small to midsized businesses, at a cost of less than $10,000, with disk capacities of 120 and 250 gigabytes (GBs). In October 2004, the company added 1U rackmount models in response to customer demand, with additional disk capacities of 500 and 800 GBs. In October 2005, Intradyn introduced the next-generation of the device, featuring software based on a new architecture and representing yet another major step forward in search and audit functionality and ease-of-use. At that time, the product was made available in a 1U rackmount with 1 TB disk capacity. The 1U models and new 2U model are designed to be bundled with the customer's choice of a Sony AIT tape library for archival email storage. If desired or required by regulation, email can be archived onto unalterable (WORM) AIT tape cartridges. The capacity of each cartridge is up to 400GB native, or more than 1TB compressed in the case of the new AIT-5 generation of the technology.

Cost of Ownership
The ComplianceVault™ appliance has a significantly lower total cost of ownership than other solutions, whether in-house or outsourced. Based on costs over 3 years and 2TBs of storage, the cost per user per month is approximately $0.66 - or about 85% less than other solutions - due to radically lower labor costs. It is an all-in-one solution - essentially "email archiving in a box" - requiring no integration, and not affecting a company's existing IT infrastructure. It can be installed and set up quickly, even by non-IT personnel. There are no additional per-user costs or license costs, only ongoing costs for tape media and annual maintenance contracts.

Pricing and Availability
The new ComplianceVault™ "eSeries" Email Archiving & Retrieval Appliances, in either 1.5TB or 3.7TB internal disk capacity, are shipping now. MSRP pricing for the Model e1500 is $14,995; for the Model e3700, $29,995. Clustered storage to scale this solution to as much as 30TB will be introduced by Intradyn by yearend and will ship in Q1 2007. For more information, please email sales@intradyn.com.
